A warm welcome to spring: 4 tips to help you reset for spring

Chances are, if you’re from the UK, the past week has felt like a veil of grey lifting to reveal blue skies, chirping birds and the emergence of daffodils. Spring has finally sprung!

What better way to mark the arrival of spring than decluttering, cleaning and preparing your home for the new season ahead. Find below a few tips to help you get started on your spring clean.

1.Time for a declutter

The first thing you might feel compelled to do is clear your space, declutter and start fresh. You might find that you’ve grown sentimental of certain items, and it might be a little difficult to say goodbye to them and that’s okay!

We recommend following Japanese organiser, Marie Kondo’s, principle of ‘Does it spark joy?’. This brings a liberating way of decluttering, by asking yourself the question and letting go of the things that no longer bring you joy.

This doesn’t mean you have to throw away your belongings and send them straight to the landfill. If possible, you could give your items a new lease on life by selling them on sites such as eBay, Vinted or Depop or simply donate them to charity.

2.Air out your space

After a long cold winter, chances are you’ve not been able to air out your space as often as you’d like. Did you know that spending as little as 10-15 minutes outdoors is known to boost mood, focus and even your physical health? So why not bring the fresh air indoors, lifting the slog of the winter months away. Throw open your windows and let the breeze flow through your home.

3.A chance to deep clean and reset

There’s no better time for a deep clean than right now. Time to recruit some helping hands and get started. Here’s a few things that are often forgotten about which we’ve conveniently organised by room.

Bedroom:

  • Mattress: Cleaning your mattress is often left as a second thought. So, next time you change your sheets, give your mattress a hoover to get rid of the dust. For a deeper clean sprinkle with baking soda and leave to sit for 20 minutes. Then hoover again.
  • Purge your wardrobe: As we suggested above it’s time to declutter, if it doesn’t bring joy, it’s time to give it away. Once you’re done decluttering, give your wardrobe a dust and a deeper clean.

Kitchen:

  • Cupboards: Especially the front of doors, door handles and the tops of your cupboards (if they’re accessible for you), these are the areas you see everyday, but they’re easily forgotten.
  • Kettle: Don’t forget to descale your kettle for improved energy efficiency.
  • Dishwasher: The dishwasher is often left on the sidelines with your oven receiving all the attention. Don’t forget to give it a deep clean, our Detox Tablets are perfect for this!

Living space:

  • Textiles: From your beloved throw that’s been keeping you cosy all winter to your throw pillows and curtains. It’s easy to forget about these but important to give them a much needed deep clean. Before cleaning, read individual washing instructions. You can use one our Laundry Detergent Eggs to do all the hard work for you.
  • TV and remote: Don’t forget to disinfect your TV remote every now and again! TVs are amazing at collecting dust so don’t forget to give your TV a wipe down too.
  • Picture frames and door frames: We tend to forget about this one the most, it’s not often that you’d look at the tops of your frames, so chances are they’ve been collecting dust this winter. Don’t forget to wipe them down.

4.Embrace a fresh start and a new beginning

There’s nothing more liberating than starting fresh. Start the new season right by wiping away the dust and set some intentions for the year ahead. Not only will your home thank you for it but so will your mind, body and soul!
