Wondering what to do with your old pellets? Here are a few tips to help you find creative ways to reuse your pellets
Finished with your pellets, what now? Although our instructions advise to dispose of your pellets, there are other ways to repurpose them and give them a new lease on life.
We’re continuously looking for ways to improve our imprint on the planet so we’re working hard on finding ways to make our pellets compostable but in the meantime, we’ve been learning about all the ways you can reuse and recycle them.
Our lovely customers have reached out to us to share more about the creative ways they’ve reused their pellets, it’s inspired us to put together a blog sharing their ideas and we’ve come up with a few others.
Keep your laundry fresher for longer with DIY wardrobe air freshener
Not only can you wash your clothes with our pellets, you could then repurpose them to continue to keep your clothes smelling fresh while they’re stored in your wardrobe, waiting for their debut.
Simply take your used pellets but ensure they’re fully dried out first, pop them in an organza bag with a few drops of an essential oil of your choice and voila! Your clothes stay fragrant and fresh for even longer.
Bring a little moment of calm to your day with a scented pillow
Bring a little zen to your day with a scented pillow. We received this tip from one of our lovely customers. They explained that they’d been repurposing their pellets and creating a fragrant pillow.
They mixed the pellets with some dried lavender for added calming benefits and dried beans to add a little weight. They popped the mix into a cloth case, securing the contents inside and there you have it, you very own, calming, fragranced pillow.
Say goodbye to your worries with a calming stress ball
Similarly to the weighted pillow, you could also create your own stress ball. Simply pop the pellets in a little cloth bag and add a calming essential oil. We recommend lavender oil as it’s known for reducing stress and anxiety.
Leave it near your desk and pick it up when you’re feeling a little stressed. Don’t forget to wash your hands thoroughly after use though.
Add a boost of fragrance around the house
If you’re not particularly crafty, don’t worry, there’s no DIY-ing involved for this little tip. Simply empty your pellets into a little pot or tray and leave them out on your windowsill, as the sunlight hits the pellets it’ll help boost the scent through your home.
If you’re finding that the fragrance is a little light, add a drop or two of your favourite essential oils to create your very own Ecoegg potpourri but please make sure they’re stored high up and out of reach of children’s wandering little hands.
Use to add drainage for your plants
Our pellets could be perfect for adding an extra level for drainage for your plants. Simply layer these at the bottom of your plant pot before adding soil on top to help with preventing overwatering, mould, and fungus gnats.
Additionally, as the pearls are designed to be super absorbent, you could add a few drops of plant nutrients and use these as a slow-release plant fertiliser.
*Disclaimer: Please keep pellets out of reach of children and don’t consume or get in contact with your eyes. This product can cause serious eye irritation. Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly after handling. *
