At Ecoegg, we know that getting away doesn’t have to mean going far. Here are some of our favourite UK spots for your next camping or van-based staycation plus practical places to park up or pitch your tent. 

1. St Nectan’s Glen, Cornwall – Waterfalls & Woodland Magic 🌿 

Tucked away near Tintagel, this hidden gem is pure enchantment. The mystical woodland walk leads to a 60-foot waterfall cascading through a rock arch. Peaceful, spiritual and perfect for nature lovers. 

Where to stay: 

  • Trewethett Farm Caravan & Motorhome Club Site – Clifftop views and a short drive to the glen.
  • Bush Farm Wild Camping – A small off-grid site near Boscastle with woodland pitches and fire pits. 

Vanlife tip: Park at Tintagel Brewery Bar & Bistro. Some van spaces available with advance notice and a pint! 

2. Cornwall – Coastal Colour & Harbourside Strolls 🐚

Golden beaches, hidden coves, pasties and cliffside walks. Cornwall is the ultimate coastal escape. There are too many incredible places to just pick one so here is a general oversight of some of our favourite camping locations in Cornwall.  

Where to stay: 

  • Penwarne Campsite – A relaxed site with stunning sea views and space for campervans.
  • Henry’s Campsite (The Lizard, nearby) – Eccentric, eco-friendly, and full of character.
  • Trevedra Farm – Campsite above Sennen Beach, great for surfers. 

Vanlife tip: Here are a few top locations for parking up and seeing the best views Cornwall has to offer: 

  • Tintagel Brewery – Friendly to vans with stunning sunset views
  • Marazion Beach Car Park – Overnight van parking with views of St Michael’s Mount (check local restrictions)
  • Chapel Porth – Arrive early for dramatic cliffs and van-friendly spaces 

3. The Cotswolds – Rolling Hills & Honey-Stone Villages 🏡 

Quintessential English countryside at its finest. Think quiet lanes, farm shops, village pubs and postcard-perfect views. If you’ve been looking to visit more quaint towns and charming villages, then The Cotswolds are worth the trip. 

Where to stay: 

  • Cotswold Farm Park Campsite – Spacious, family-friendly and run by TV’s Adam Henson.
  • Far Peak Camping – Peaceful, eco-aware site near Northleach, perfect for vans and tents alike. 

Vanlife tip: Bourton-on-the-Water Car Park allows overnight van stays for a small fee (no facilities, but central). 

4. Isle of Mull, Scotland – Wild & Wonderfully Remote 🐚

Hop on a ferry from Oban and escape to one of Scotland’s most magical islands. Expect beaches, castles, eagles and very few crowds. If you’ve been craving a holiday full of wildlife, this one’s for you. 

Where to stay: 

  • Pennyghael Campsite – Waterside pitches with stunning loch views.
  • Craignure Bay Campsite – Handy for the ferry and perfect for campervans. 

Vanlife tip: Wild camping is generally tolerated on Mull, just follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and make sure to be mindful and not damage the environment. 

5. Scottish Highlands – Raw Beauty & Big Horizons⛰️

From Glencoe to Torridon, the Highlands are where big landscapes meet quiet solitude. Perfect for wild campers, hikers and vanlifers looking to unplug. Meeting some highland cows along the way is an added bonus.  

Where to stay: 

  • Red Squirrel Campsite, Glencoe – Popular with hikers, nestled among trees and streams.
  • Sango Sands Oasis, Durness – A cliffside campsite overlooking white-sand beaches. 

Vanlife tip: Scotland offers some of the best wild parking in the UK. Try lay-bys near Loch Maree or Glen Etive (don’t forget to check and respect local guidelines). 

6. The Lake District – Mountains, Lakes & Campfires 🌄 

From the peaks of Scafell Pike to peaceful lakeside walks, the Lakes are a classic UK escape. Just don’t forget to bring your waterproofs! 

Where to stay: 

  • Great Langdale Campsite – Surrounded by mountains, ideal for walkers.
  • Syke Farm Campsite, Buttermere – Rustic, scenic and peaceful. 

Vanlife tip: Keswick Rugby Club offers motorhome parking close to town and Derwentwater (check availability online). 

7. Wales – Mountains, Coastlines & Hidden Valleys 🐑 

Whether you head to Snowdonia, Pembrokeshire or the Brecon Beacons, Wales packs big views into small distances. Plus, you’ll find some of the best-value camping in the UK. 

Where to stay: 

  • Cae Du Campsite, North Wales – Clifftop views near Barmouth. Camp with waves in your ears.
  • Trellyn Woodland Camping, Pembrokeshire – Firepits, tree swings and near the coast, what’s not to love! 

Vanlife tip: Llyn Gwynant Campsite in Snowdonia is perfect for vans, right by a lake with mountains all around.
