So, settle in and enjoy this feel-good round-up of positive news to start the year on a high note.
A major come back for animals
2025 brought encouraging news for wildlife across the globe. Several species once on the brink of extinction began to recover, showing just how powerful conservation efforts can be.
Green turtles were removed from the ‘endangered’ list, cicadas were successfully reintroduced to England, and brown trout returned to Swedish rivers after years of absence. Even more heartening, birds and insects were spotted in areas where they hadn’t been seen for decades, with species thought to be lost reappearing once again.
A hopeful reminder that nature can heal when given the chance.

Renewable power sources surging
Clean energy had a breakthrough year in 2025. Wind, solar and other renewable power sources overtook coal, supplying millions of homes with sustainable energy.
Countries around the world invested heavily in green infrastructure, cutting carbon emissions and making real progress in the fight against climate change. Cities embraced solar panels, wind farms and innovative energy storage solutions, proving that a cleaner, greener future is already well underway.

Forests and green spaces flourishing
Forests across the globe experienced a remarkable revival last year. Large-scale reforestation projects in countries such as Brazil, India and Kenya saw millions of trees planted, helping absorb CO₂ and restore vital habitats for wildlife.
Urban areas benefited too, with new community parks, rooftop gardens and green spaces bringing nature closer to everyday life and improving wellbeing for local residents.

Oceans and rivers healing
There was welcome news for our oceans and waterways in 2025. Coral reefs in the Pacific and Indian Oceans showed early signs of recovery thanks to conservation efforts, while clean-up initiatives removed tonnes of plastic from rivers and coastlines.
Marine life, including dolphins and sea turtles, were spotted in areas where they hadn’t been seen for years.

Eco-friendly innovations thriving
From biodegradable packaging to sustainable fashion, 2025 was full of creative solutions for a greener planet. Communities embraced zero-waste living, electric vehicles became more accessible, and people everywhere found new ways to reduce their environmental footprint.
Small changes, big impact.
Looking ahead
The past year reminded us that when communities, governments and individuals work together, real change can happen. As we move into 2026, let’s keep the momentum going. Plant a tree, support clean energy and celebrate every small win for the Earth.
